15 Steps To A Longer Life

Forbes.com has a new list on the 15 things you can do to live a longer life.

You know, whenever I think of how I can live a healthier life, I think of none other than Forbes!

Naturally, rich people care about their health, too.

The list ain't actually that bad. Although it probably doesn't focus nearly enough on good nutrition and the importance of natural foods, it's nice to see a growing awareness in the media about the need for an integrative, mind-body approach to medicine. Among the things on list is not sleeping too much, laughing, having more sex, meditation, and being rich!

MSNBC has the full article here.

Soda Distributors to End Most School Sales

From the AP:

NEW YORK - The nation's largest beverage distributors have agreed to halt nearly all sales of sodas to public schools — a step that will remove the sugary, caloric drinks from vending machines and cafeterias around the country.

[...]

Under the agreement, the companies also have agreed to sell only water, unsweetened juice and low-fat milks to elementary and middle schools. Diet sodas would be sold only to high schools. Read on....

Beverage companies agreeing to the deal include Cadbury Schweppes PLC, Coca-Cola Co., PepsiCo Inc. and the ABA.

The news at times can be heartening.

About Students for Integrative Medicine

Welcome to the Homepage of Students for Integrative Medicine (SIM) -- a student group at UC Berkeley encouraging awareness of alternative and conventional medical practices.

We meet every Monday, after our DE-Cal, in 2050 VLSB at 7:30 PM. We usually take the speaker out for dinner -- an opportunity to meet with an integrative medicine practitioner in an informal setting, and get a feel for the group.

Look for us on Sproul, too. Mostly in late afternoons.

We are looking for new and motivated members to bring more depth to our events and increase our organizational efficacy. We are engaged in attempting to secure an academic concentration, minor, major and department. If you are interested in being involved or you are just interested in attending our workshops, please contact us or attend our general meetings. All are welcome.

To get DE-Cal information, go to: http://www.ocf.berkeley.edu/mailman/listinfo/sim-decal.

To join our regular announcement list, go to:

Most business gets taken care of at our meetings, and at our Yahoo group. This is a high-volume discussion group by the SIM community, useful for anyone interested in being involved. Depending on the degree of involvement you desire, due to the heavy volume of email you may want to choose DAILY DIGEST or WEEKLY DIGEST in your message settings. Join our mailing list and group by visiting:

We appreciate your interest and look forward to meeting you.
